Amani Terrell of Los Angeles, CA is taking on the misconceptions of plus-size women...in a very unique way.
Clad in a string bikini, Terrell has been using, and working it down, Hollywood Blvd., with zero shame.
According to the Huffington Post, Terrell says, "You cannot seek validation from other people, this world is very cruel...you must seek validation within yourself and be kind to yourself."
Terrell knows that there is a "mass hysteria of perfection," that comes with living in Hollywood. This idea of perfection promotes "thin" women as the definition of beauty; Terrell shows that said beauty comes in many different shapes, sizes, and colors -- despite what certain ideals say.
Although she is breaking down barriers of a so-called "norm," Terrell also disagrees with the way others assume overweight women view themselves. "There's a misconception that big women have low self-esteem, I don't have low self-esteem," Terrell says.
According to HuffPost, Terrell acknowledges that she could lose weight, but she doesn't let that get in the way of her ability to love herself.
Sidenote: There are bikin's available for plus-size women (if you wish to wear one) that can make you look, and feel, great!
