Donald Glover Announces He's Retiring Childish Gambino

During his recent performance at Governors Ball, Donald Glover hinted that he will be retiring after his next (and last) album. During his performance, he announced, "I'll see you for the last Gambino album." Cue the sobbing.

According to Billboard, Glover revealed in a recent interview with Huffington Post that, "There's nothing worse than like a third sequel, like a third movie and we're like 'Again?'... I like it when something's good and when it comes back there's a reason to come back...I feel like there's gotta be a reason to do things and I always had a reason to be punk. Being punk just always felt really good to me and we always looked at Atlanta as a punk show and I feel like the direction I would go with Childish Gambino wouldn't be punk anymore."

Glover closes by saying, "...there's only so far you can go before you just are the radio."

Sounds like Childish doesn't want to lose his flare by continuing when his heart's not in it. The rapper (soon to be former) is currently writing season 2 of Atlanta and has landed roles in several upcoming major films: Spider-Man: Homecoming, Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Lion King.

Unfortunately, all Childish fans are pretty bummed to hear this.

Plus, one fan gives us our favorite theory yet. Fingers crossed that this idea is true:
