So the story goes; Shaw Pepas Lettman is a NYC Lyft driver and picked up Rober Ortiz and 2 of his friends from a Gay club in Manhattan. At some point during the drive, the three men asked Lettman to play music. Lettman declined and an argument followed, which resulted in Lettman stopping the car (assuming asking the 3 gentlemen to exit his vehicle). At this point, Ortiz picked up his phone and call the police and Lettman started recording the men as they became more belligerent.
This is where the 16 minute video below begins showing a very irate Ortiz saying that he felt racially profiled because he's not black and gay and all he asked was for Lettman to play music. A extremely calm Lettman sits through the whole ordeal and only at on points interject and lets Ortiz know that there is a sticker on his vehicle that makes passengers aware that they can be recorded. Ortiz continues to hurl obscenities and threats at Lettman and even calls him the N-Word
After the video went viral, Letterman was suspended from driving for Lyft for 2 days while they investigated the situation which prompted Letterman to start a GoFundMe to offset lost wages. He has been able to raise over $21k so far.
Mr. Ortiz has since left his medical job and changed his phone number due to all the calls he has received since the video went viral.
Let this be a lesson kids.
