The Texas native delivers on his new project titled “Jackal Pt. 2: The Ouroboros Effect”, the latest drop from his “The Jackal EP” series. Marley, who started out in music at only 20 years old, is already making an impact with his genre-bending sound, and is determined to change the way we listen to music. When asked what his style of music is, he says it’s “street, social, political and spiritually conscious, with a near alternative presentation.”
The Fort Worth rapper also writes and co-produces a lot of his music, and embraces a vast array of musical influences that he tries to incorporate into his own work. “I never want to be boxed in as a traditional rap artist when there is so much I want to explore, musically!” His inspiration comes from artists like Marilyn Manson, Queen, Tupac and Lil Wayne, something that sets him apart from others as he pushes boundaries, by combining alternative and hip-hop. But what initially inspired Marley to do music was…life. “The good, the bad, and the ugly...a person can find lessons for growth and development in it all...you just have to see it for what it is...not so much for how we would like it to be.”
Jackboy’s vision for his career can be summed up in one word: longevity. He’s certainly not one of those “15 minutes of fame” artists as he is dedicated to his craft. “I want to be recognized as experimental, mystical and creative in nature so that I may have room to consistently represent growth in my music.” With two mixtapes, an album and an EP under his belt, the rapper is well on his way.
