Growing up during the economic boom in China, KROMI is no ordinary female DJ. She is a reflection of both tradition and the new generation of self-made, emerging DJs from Asia. With a background in classical training and as a former pop singer, KROMI is no stranger to the stage.
KROMI’s love for DJing began in 2017 when she attended the Ultra Music Festival and saw Tiesto perform. From that moment on, she knew that she wanted to pursue a career in music. In 2020, KROMI released her collaboration with Ander Huang, “F Boy,” on Spinnin Records, which she considers to be her favorite project to date.
KROMI’s creative process typically starts with the buildup of a track and then working on the drop. She finds it easier to work with vocals and often looks for them to incorporate into her music. As an independent artist and producer, KROMI enjoys the wealth of talent in the industry and makes it her ambition to learn and grow from other artists in the music world.
One of the biggest difficulties KROMI faces when starting new projects is sparking creative direction, just like many of her colleagues. To stay calm when a project is not going as planned, KROMI advises lowering expectations and taking some time away from it if necessary.
KROMI’s proudest moments in her career so far include meeting fans in various cities, and seeing people on the dance floor holding up their phones with her name on them. When she’s not working, KROMI enjoys watching YouTube, snowboarding (when she has time), and relaxing at home with her baby dog.
On top of this, KROMI just released a major collaboration with the one and only MOGUAI named “No Secret”. This radio and club ready song is out now on all major platforms.
