Mass. Guardsman Jack Teixeira Pleads Guilty To Leaking Classified Documents

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Massachusetts Air National Guardsman Jack Teixeira pleaded guilty in federal court on Monday to leaking classified national security documents online, according to the Associated Press.

Teixeira's plea agreement recommended a prison sentence between 11 and almost 17 years.

The 22-year-old from Dighton pleaded guilty to six counts of willfully retaining and transmitting military secrets in US District Court in Boston. This comes nearly a year after the FBI arrested him at his Dighton home.

Teixeira's sentencing is set to take place on September 27, according to the Boston Globe.

The young Guardsman, who worked at the 102nd Intelligence Wing at Otis Air National Guard Base on Cape Cod since 2019, admitted to illegally collecting and sharing military secrets on Discord, a popular gaming platform.

Teixeira posted hundreds of documents with classified information about the war in Ukraine in addition to sharing other military secrets with gamers, the Boston Globe reports.
