Ashland Teens Charged In Murder Of Maine Woman

ASHLAND (WBZ-AM) -- Two Ashland teenagers are being held in Maine on charges they conspired with a friend to kill the friend's mother.

The victim, Kimberly Mironovas, moved with her 15-year-old son to Litchfield, Maine two years ago.

Police say she was strangled and stabbed by her son and another 15-year-old, who they say was conspiring with a 13-year-old.

Authorities are considering whether or not to try them as adults.

The Ashland School Superintendent put out a statement saying they have no information other than what's been in the media.

The statement encourages paretns to engage in conversation with their children about the murder and reach out to school counselors for additional support.

Around the metrowest town, reaction was subdued, with few details and a lot of speculation.

"Yeah, that was creepy," one woman told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Lana Jones. "I think there's something wrong, terribly wrong. It's a lot of mental illness."
