NEW YORK, NY (24/7 News Source/WBZ-AM) -- Fashion designer Kate Spade,55, was found dead  in her Manhattan apartment Tuesday from an apparent suicide according to police.

Police say that her housekeeper reportedly found the designer's body around 10:20 Tuesday morning inside 850 Park Avenue. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

There are multiple reports that the 55-year-old hanged herself and left a suicide note.

The fashion designer launched her company with David Spade’s brother Andy in 1993, beginning with just handbags before the brand and empire expanded to include clothing jewelry, bedding, china, wallpaper and shoes.

Kate and Andy tied the knot a year later in 1994.

Her company, Kate Spade New York, has over 140 retail shops and outlet stores across the U.S. and more than 175 shops internationally.

In 2007, Kate sold the company to focus on raising their daughter, Frances Beatrix Spade, now 13. She launched a new line called Frances Valentine in 2016.
