BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- The Red Sox beat up on the Mariners 9-3 yesterday to cap a four-game series-split, and Xander Bogaerts was a big part of the success. He went 2-for-5 with his third homer in the set to give him a .313 average, six RBI, and four runs in the series.

"Trying to get some runs, get some RBIs, you know," Bogaerts said. "If you can get more of those, it can be useful for the team to have, and you put your team in a better position to win."

Bogaerts is batting .279 with an .857 OPS, 12 home runs, and 41 RBI in 56 games this season. Boston's won five of seven and will wrap up its 10-game trip with a three-game series in Minnesota, starting tomorrow.

The Sox are 49-and-24 and in a virtual tie with the Yankees for first in the majors. The Twins are five games out in the Central, and just 17-and-17 at home.
