Joyner Lucas Will Play Summer Jam Despite Cancelling Tour

Earlier this week, Joyner Lucas announced he would be cutting his tour short due to medial issues.

Lucas' manager Dhruv Joshi told HipHopDX the Massachusetts MC had to cancel the upcoming Australian and European legs of his I'm Kind Of A Big Deal tour due to a hoarse voice. “As an artist, his voice is his instrument, he cannot damage his voice permanently for one tour,” Joshi said. “He needs to take care of himself and recover fully, he will be touring soon and will make it up to all the fans!”

Well, Joyner's hometown fans won't have to wait long to see the rising hip-hop star up-close-and-personal! Lucas took to Twitter Thursday morning (Aug. 2) to confirm that he would honor a previously scheduled performance at JAM'N 94.5's Summer Jam 2018.

"I'll be at Summer Jam today w/ @JAMN945," Joyner wrote. "I had 2 postpone my Australia tour n cancel my EU tour. 3 days of back2back shows wit a horse throat will ruin me."

This isn't the first time the performer has experienced vocal issues. "Last tour I had to get a steroid inhaler 4 my throat to avoid surgery," Lucas added on Twitter.

Summer Jam 2018 kicks off at Mansfield's Xfinity Center at 6:30pm, with Joyner taking the stage at 7:55pm. Follow all the action online with the hashtag #SJ18Boston!
