Severe Thunderstorm Warning For Worcester, Middlesex County

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- There is severe weather passing through the area. 

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of Worester and Middlesex County until 4:15 PM EDT Friday.

"A few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening, mainly west of the Boston to Providence corridor. The main threat is damaging wind but an isolated tornado is also possible. Heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding is also possible."

The National Weather Service says that a severe thunderstorm was located over Acton, or  near Chelmsford, moving northeast at 30 mph with wind gusts as high as 60 mph and a quarter size hail.

They anticipate that Hail damage to vehicles is possible and expect damage to trees and power lines.

Affected communities are:

Lowell, Billerica, Woburn, Chelmsford, Dracut, Tewksbury,  Wakefield, Reading, Burlington, Wilmington, Westford, Acton,   Concord, North Reading, Bedford, Tyngsborough, Groton, Maynard, Littleton and Ayer.
