Funeral Plans Set For Fallen Worcester Firefighter

WORCESTER (WBZ-AM) -- Preparations are underway to honor Worcester Firefighter Christopher Roy, killed Sunday while fighting a five-alarm blaze.

A wake for Roy will be held Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church at 44 Temple Street. The funeral for the 36-year-old will be held at St. John's on Saturday at 10 a.m. Thousands of first responders will be on hand to pay their respects. 

On Monday morning, Roy's body was taken from UMass Medical Center in Worcester to the Medical Examiner's office in Boston, accompanied by a procession of firefighters, police, and state troopers. Arriving in Boston, the procession was met by firefighters and cops who lined Albany Street in attention. Later Monday, Roy's body was taken by procession to the Hammond Street Funeral Home in Worcester.

Roy will be buried at Notre Dame Cemetery on Webster Street.
