Boston Police: No Dognapper, Just A Misunderstanding

DORCHESTER (WBZ-AM) -- Boston Police now say that a small Shih Tzu named Lola was not taken by a dognapper--it was all just a misunderstanding.

On New Year's Eve around 9:30 p.m., a pet owner reported the dog stolen outside a dollar store on Columbia Road in Dorchester. Police put out a surveillance photo of a person holding the dog.

Now, though, the BPD has clarified that the person mistakenly believed the dog had been abandoned, and was genuinely trying to help. No charges have been filed, and the dog is now home safe with its owner.
