BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Lawmakers from Massachusetts are reacting to President Donald Trump's Oval Office address--and Democrats aren't mincing words.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren said what will make America safer is ending the shutdown and making sure vital agencies have the funds to maintain our national security.

Democratic congressman Seth Moulton tweeted, "Mr President, the American people want their paychecks this Friday... they don’t want to be saddled with the bill for a wall that only protects your fragile ego."

He added, "If Trump wants to build a wall that will actually work and is actually needed, let's build a cyber wall to protect our democracy from Russia."

Democratic congressman Joe Kennedy said the GOP needs to end the crisis that the president created.

Rep. Ayanna Pressley, who just took office last week, tweeted, "To the immigrant community in the MA 7th and across this country, you are seen, you are valued, you belong here," and "Mr. Trump, I see right through you and so do the American people."

Hours before President Trump's address Tuesday night, Rep. Pressley ripped the president in a one-minute address from the House floor.

Sen. Ed Markey tweeted some border/shutdown math.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders released a video after last night's address, accusing the president of lying about the situation at the border.

"If this wall were to be built, Mexico would not pay for it--American taxpayers would," Sanders said in the video.
