West Roxbury High School Closing

West Roxbury High School aka Swamp High, Westie home of Brook Farm Business Academy (Which I went too) Urban Science Academy, Media Communications, Parkway Tech & Health is closing for good at the end of this school year. As an alumni I created a lot of great memories here with fellow students and the great teachers. I went to BFA the business academy and have to mention spanish teacher Ms.Lafontant, Bio teacher Ms.Spencer, and Humanities Mr.Webber who made a huge impact on my life. Westie is also responsible for being home of Major League Pitcher Manny Delacarmen who played for the Boston Red Sox.

The reason it will be closing is due to "The Poor Physical Condition Of The West Roxbury Educational Complex." Superintendent of BPS told the school committee the final Votes were accelerated due to that reason.

It is safe to say that if you had the pleasure of being a student or staff here your times was memorable. Below is the farewell / open house info and facebook invitation.

"As West Roxbury High School closes this June, after 42 years, an open house/alumni farewell is planned for Sat, June 15. All are invited to come back, stroll around, take lots of pic, and bid farewell to this fine school. There will be a DJ in the gym, light refreshments, and all teachers and staff invited back too."
