PLYMOUTH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A White Shark sighting in Plymouth has led to all beaches in the town to be closed to swimming for 24 hours.
A fisherman spotted the shark near Brown’s Bank Monday afternoon, when the predator breached and took a fish off his line.
The Plymouth Harbor Master said red warning flags will be up for the next day.
While the water will be off limits, beaches remain open for those going to have fun in the sun.
Typically, beaches are closed for only a few hours following a sharking sighting. Cape Cod protocol calls for a beach to be closed to swimmers for an hour without any further sightings.
Multiple sharks were spotted Monday in Cape Cod Bay, including sightings off Head of the Meadow Beach, Nauset Light Beach, and Marconi Beach.
