Pilot Killed In New Bedford Cemetery Plane Crash; Family Speaks Out

The pilot of a plane that crashed into a New Bedford cemetery Monday afternoon has died. Paul Vidal was killed Monday after his Cessna 150 crashed into a cemetery in New Bedford.

The plane crashed into Rural Cemetery shortly after takeoff from New Bedford Regional Airport around 3 p.m. Monday.

His family identified him and said Paul, who grew up in Fall River, had nearly 25 years of experience as a pilot and loved flying and often traveled with his wife following a long stint as a teacher at the Community College of Rhode Island, according to his son.
