SHREWSBURY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Shrewsbury Fire Department retrieved a car that had crashed into Jordan Pond early Saturday morning.

The car had one occupant when it went into the icy cold water around 4:30 a.m. It then flipped over and was partially submerged in 4 feet of water.

Crews pulled the car from the water and used the jaws of life to get the victim out of the car.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died. He's been identified as Deven Jared Koenig, 21, of Grafton.
