KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Kennebunkport Fire Department say a boat and its dock were torn from shore on Saturday.
The incident happened along the Kennebunkport River when a strong current and excessive rain "created very, very dangerous conditions," according to fire officials.
The Portland Press Herald reports that the boat was a floating restaurant called the 'Spirit of Massachusetts.'
A 60-foot tree fell into the river and hit the 125-foot schooner at the time of the incident. It was the rescued by local lobstermen and the fire department.
Officials say that no one was injured during the incident and everyone "returned home safely."
"The Spirit is now safely docked and has suffered minimal damage," the restaurant said in a statement. "Thanks again to everyone for their support and to all who have reached out to check in."
The Spirit of Massachusetts was built at the Charlestown Navy Yard, was restored, and brought to Maine.
