Meghan Markle's Friend Claims Duchess Will Never Live In The U.K. Again

The Duke And Duchess Of Sussex Visit Canada House

Doesn't it feel like it's been 8 years since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced their plan to step down as senior royals? Unfortunately for, well, everybody, it hasn't even been 8 days. A lot has happened since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared the Instagram post read around the world. Prince William and Prince Harry were forced to release a joint statement denying "bullying" between them was the cause for the Sussexes' decision. Queen Elizabeth released her own statement, too, revealing she'll allow her grandson and his wife to split their time between Canada and the United Kingdom.

The only problem, though, is a friend of Meghan now claims the Duchess has no plans to ever live in England again. While Harry has been in London dealing with the fallout from their major announcement, Meghan has been laying low in Canada with Archie. "She doesn't want to raise Archie [in London], and she doesn't want to schlep back and forth. She'll make extended visits, but that's it," Meghan's friend told The Daily Mail. According to this friend, Meghan was "miserable in the U.K." and "wasn’t sleeping well and started having anxiety attacks about her future" after Archie was born in May.

Though Meghan's royal in-laws may be happy about her decision to move back to Canada, where she lived for 7 years prior to marrying Prince Harry, she has the full support of her mom, Doria Ragland. Following Archie's birth, Doria was reportedly "really worried about Meghan...and is relieved her daughter is putting her mental health and well being first."

Harry and Meghan are reportedly looking for a new permanent residence in Canada. Meghan's friend claims the Sussexes are hoping to have a "country house in Whistler outside of Vancouver and a home in Toronto." This may come as a shock to many people, however, the anonymous confidante told The Daily Mail: "This was her plan all along, to eventually leave the UK and build her own empire with Harry."

Despite reports that the royal family was blindsided by Meghan and Harry's decision to leave the U.K., the friend alleges the announcement "was not a surprise to the royal family, they knew all along." Whether their feelings were hurt by the decision is another matter, according to the insider. Meghan reportedly feels "the good she and Harry can create with their own fortune far outweighs any hurt feelings."
