Mardi Gras Lunch at Faneuil Hall

If going out on a Tuesday night is not your thing, you might prefer an extended festive lunch break near Faneuil Hall.

On Tuesday between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. you can grab some New Orleans-style food from the restaurants in the marketplace, and watch the live jazz music and parade around Faneuil Hall where beads will be given out.

If you're not in the mood for spicy jambalaya, try the $1 all-day tacos at Mexcala Tex Mex, or the $4 Po Boy Tacos at Mija Cantina & Tequila Bar.

Several participating merchants are also offering discounts to customers who attend the parade. For more, click here.

Fat Tuesday Night In Harvard Square

Music venue Beat Brew Hall is hosting a New Orleans style Fat Tuesday celebration with "boeuf gras and bacchus." There will be jazzy-swing music from BT Second Line Band, dancing, and special Mardi Gras cocktails on the menu.

Celebrations kicks off on Tuesday at 13 Brattle Street in Cambridge from 5 p.m. until midnight.

Louisiana Line-Dancing Party

Get into the southern swing of things with a 21+ Louisiana Line Dancing party at Loretta's Last Call on Landsdowne Street.

Beginners, fear not - there are free line dancing lessons starting at 8 p.m. at Loretta's, followed by the handing out of beads and favors for the dancers. There will be specialty Mardi Gras themed cocktails on offer, and a full dinner menu including their famous Gumbo.

Kid-Friendly Seaport Mardi Gras

Enjoy a family-friendly winter take on Mardi Gras by visiting the Snowport Winter Village in Boston's Seaport District.

After a few laps around Snowport's ice skating rink, visitors can enjoy some authentic New Orleans King cake which is traditionally colored yellow, green and purple, collect the artisan-made sustainable Mardi Gras beads, and more. Festivities kick off Tuesday at 4 p.m.

All-Day Feast At South Street Diner

For the last day of carnival season, South Street Diner is recreating an authentic New Orleans feel from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The Diner will be offering a NOLA-themed menu with a $6 all-you-can-eat jambalaya feast, a crawfish boil, alligator sausage, fried frog's legs, shrimp po boy, and much more. There will also be traditional King's cake from Gambino's bakery. Staff will be dressed up in Mardi Gras colors, handing out beads to customers all day long.

Back Bay Masquerade Party

On Tuesday night, Back Bay Social on Boylston Street will be offering dinner specials and Fat Tuesday inspired cocktails.

Attendees are encouraged to wear their Mardi Gras masks for the masquerade party kicking off at 7 p.m.

Free Pancakes At IHOP

In the USA, it's celebrated as Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday, but across Europe, the day before lent is known as Pancake Day.

Starting at 7 a.m. this Tuesday there will be a free short stack of pancakes with your name on it at IHOP. In exchange, the company asks that you to consider donating to Boston Children's Hospital. Not a bad deal - last year, the effort raised more than $47,000 in Boston alone.
