Meghan Markle & Prince Harry's Social Media Removed From Royals' Website

Back in March, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shared their final post to their official royal Instagram account. As part of their agreement with Queen Elizabeth, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex agreed to shutter the Sussex Royal social media accounts, as well as their charity foundation of the same name. The former working royals also agreed to forgo the use of the word 'royal' in any future branding.

Four months after Meghan and Harry stepped down, the Royal Family has removed the Sussexes' social media accounts from its website. When visiting the Royal Family's official website, users will now only see promotions for three social media accounts: @TheRoyalFamily, which follows Queen Elizabeth, @ClarenceHouse, which follows Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and@KensingtonRoyal, which follows the office of Kate Middleton and Prince William.

Harry and Meghan weren't the only royals removed the website, either. Queen Elizabeth's son, Prince Andrew, had his social media accounts taken down, as well. The Duke of York was removed from official royal duties in late 2019 after his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein became public.

The rest of the Royal Family, including Queen Elizabeth's other grandchildren Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, are not included on the Royal Family's website, either. This lines up with reports that Prince Charles is hoping to slim down the monarchy when he becomes king one day. The slimmed down monarchy would see fewer members of the extended Royal Family taking on official duties and being supported by financially by the Sovereign Grant.
