President Donald Trump was abruptly escorted by a U.S. Secret Service agent out of the White House briefing room as he was beginning a coronavirus briefing Monday afternoon.
Shortly after Trump returned to the briefing room and addressed the situation.
“There was an actual shooting and somebody’s been taken to the hospital,” Trump said. The president said the shots were fired by law enforcement.
“It seems that the person was shot by the Secret Service so we’ll see what happens,” Trump said, further explaining “It was outside of the White House, it seems that the shooting was done by law enforcement at the suspect, it was the suspect who was shot,” he continued.
The Secret Service later confirmed the shooting describing it as an “officer involved shooting at 17th Street and Pennsylvania Ave”.
