Massachusetts Moving To Phase 2 Of COVID-19 Vaccination Plan Feb. 1

Gov. Charlie Baker announced on Monday that Massachusetts will be moving to phase two of its COVID-19 vaccine rollout plan on Monday, February 1.

Baker also announced an updated priority order for residents that qualify for the second phase. The new order is:

  • Individuals 75+
  • Individuals 65+; Individuals with 2+ comorbidities (those at increased risk for severe illness)
  • Early education, K-12, transit, grocery, utility, food and agriculture, sanitation, public works and public health workers
  • Individuals with one comorbidity

Initially, individuals 75+ will be the only new group eligible for vaccination in phase 2. Those individuals should be able to book an appointment starting on Wednesday, according to officials. Remaining phase 2 priority groups will begin to become eligible “later in February,” officials said.

The governor also outlined a plan to expand public vaccination sites, including the following newly announced sites:

  • Eastfield Mall in Springfield (Opens January 29)
  • DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Boston North Shore in Danvers (Opens February 3)
  • Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center, Roxbury (Opens in First Week of February)

The announcement of additional planned sites is forthcoming. Baker urged the public to visit mass.gov/covidvaccinemap to see when they’re eligible and book appointments.
