The fourth defendant in the XXXTentacion murder trial has finally been sentenced.
On Wednesday, May 17, a judge sentenced Robert Allen to seven years in prison with credit for time served. Allen has been locked up since 2018 after he was arrested in connection with the Florida rapper's murder. Once his co-defendants were apprehended, Allen struck a plea deal and agreed to testify against Michael Boatwright, 28, Dedrick Williams, 26, and Trayvon Newsome, 24, during their trial earlier this year. According to WSVN, Allen also provided information on a cold case the Broward Sheriff's Office had been working on for years.
Judge Michael Usan took Allen's cooperation and remorse into consideration when he made his ruling. Allen only has two more years left in prison since the past five years count as time served. Upon his release, Allen will have to remain on probation for 20 years. His sentence is a lot better than the three men convicted of murdering the "Look At Me!" rapper. Boatwright, Williams and Newsome were all sentenced to life in prison.
Next month will be five years since XXXTentacion, born Jahseh Onfroy, was shot and killed during a robbery outside of the RIVAS Motorsports showroom in Deerfield Beach. Boatwright and Newsome fired their weapons at the artist after they robbed him of $50,000. The getaway driver and mastermind behind the plan, Dedrick Williams, and Allen waited in their vehicle until both shooters hopped in.
During the trial, Williams' defense attorney Mauricio Padilla tried to argue that Drake had something to do with X's murder because of their past beef against one another. By the end of the trial, Padilla failed to prove that the Canadian rapper was involved.
