J. Cole plans to offer up a personal recap of his career in an upcoming audio series fans will not want to miss.
On Sunday night, November 17, the Dreamville founder debuted a teaser for his limited audio series "Inevitable." In the trailer, you can hear Cole and his manager Ibrahim "Ib" Hamad kick off a candid conversation about the Grammy award-winning rapper's career from the time he wrote his first song ever to the present day. Co-host and filmmaker Scott Lazer also chimes in to explain the origin of the series. Cole says making the series was "new, it was emotional and more than anything, it was therapeutic."
"When I heard it with fresh ears, I was glued to the story as if it was somebody else’s," Cole explained. "At times I could feel my adrenaline rush when hearing about the ups and the many downs and how it all played out in the end. I got so much clarity from it, and I understood more than ever the power of having a dream, the power of fueling that dream with strong vision, the magic that happens when we stay in alignment with God, and the darkness that can come in the times that we don’t."
"If you rocked with me at any point so far on my journey, I hope this will give you even more perspective and fill in a lot of blanks," he concluded. "If you have your own dream in life that you hope to achieve, in any field, I hope that this will feed your spirit, giving you confidence to believe in that dream and the encouragement to push through the tough times. To go for it even when you may be afraid to."
Fans were instantly hyped about the series after the trailer dropped last night. Some of them hope Cole will use the show to answer numerous burning questions about topics like his upcoming album The Fall Off, his thoughts about Drake & Kendrick Lamar's beef and more. Fans can pre-order the series before it arrives on Monday, November 18 at 6 p.m. Each patron will get access to new episodes each week.
