Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre's long-awaited album is finally here.
On Friday, December 13, the West Coast legends delivered their highly-anticipated collaborative album Missionary via Death Row/Aftermath/Interscope Records. The 16-track project, executive produced by Dr. Dre, begins with "Fore Play" featuring BJ The Chicago Kid followed by other tracks in which Snoop and Dre lay down fresh verses together like "Shangri-La" and "Outta Da Blue." They sample iconic musicians like Sly & The Family Stone on "Thank You" and The Police on "Another Part of Me" with Sting. The duo also enlisted Jhené Aiko, Jelly Roll, the late Tom Petty, Method Man, 50 Cent, Eminem, and others to throw down on the album.
"You smell it in the air, product of my environment/I come from freestylin' over gunshots and sirens," Snoop raps on "Gunz N Smoke." "Nothing more gangster than my voice over these violins/Get down, lay down, it's the wolf of the Dogg Pound."
Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre have been hyping fans up about the album for the past two years. Following their award-winning Super Bowl Halftime Show performance in 2022, the duo reunited in the lab and began making their joint album. It's the first time they have worked on an album together since they worked on Doggystyle in 1993. Missionary serves as the sequel to Snoop's debut LP.
