BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — First, there was Goose the lizard, and now there is another animal on the loose in Massachusetts.

For weeks, residents have reported sightings of a pig freely roaming in the Bridgewater area.

The pig, now referred to as Penny, has become a local celebrity on social media. Residents have been advised to stay away from Penny, although authorities don't believe the mammal is aggressive.

Marty, who has lived in Bridgewater and Brockton his whole life, said he has dealt with feral hogs in other parts of New England and knows they can pose a problem.

"You're concerned about the kids, especially," he explained.

Phillips, originally from Guyana, said he is familiar with wild hogs. He said they do not scare him, and he knows what to do if he does spot the portly pedestrian.

"I will just walk past him," Phillips said.

If you spot the pig, you can contact Bridgewater Animal Control at 508-659-1290.
