BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Sand & Gravel is suing Trinity Acquisitions over its plan to turn two parking lots into a residential complex near its manufacturing facility.

The company warned that if the project proceeds as is, pedestrians and residents of the new development would face “severe injury and or death” due to accidents with company trucks.

The project is centered on a small road off New Rutherford Ave. that Sand & Gravel uses for its semi-trucks, mixers and other vehicles that can weigh close to 50 tons.

The proposed development will include four apartment buildings that will total 705 units. It would also include pedestrian and bike paths along the road to connect back to the buildings.

Some people who use the parking lots tell WBZ NewsRadio that there could be problems with a residential complex so close to Sand & Gravel’s operations.

“There’s a lot of trucks that go up and down there, so the trucks would have to go through the residential neighborhood, I don’t think that’s really too good of an idea,” said Francis, who works in the area.

“Cars will get dinged up and scratched with all the dirt, it’s all I can think of,” said Chris, who uses the lot.

Trinity Acquisitions has until Aug. 5 to respond to the complaint.
