3 Suspects Captured After Pursuit, Search In Braintree

BRAINTREE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Three suspects were arrested Tuesday afternoon after a search that saw State and Braintree Police, K9 units, and the State Police Air Wing scouring Braintree and Weymouth Landing.

Braintree Police said at least one of the three men had been sought by several different agencies in connection to a shooting several weeks ago in Plymouth.

State Police were following the suspects' car when they ditched it on Allen Street in Braintree around 2 p.m. Witnesses reported seeing the men get out of the car and flee toward Weymouth Landing.

Around 3:45 p.m., Braintree Police said all three suspects were in custody. Moira, a Weymouth resident, told WBZ NewsRadio's Jim MacKay she watched police arrest a man in a yellow coat who was hiding under an MBTA Commuter Rail bridge.

Several public schools were put on lockdown during the search.

Braintree High School's dismissal was delayed due to the search. Around 3:30 p.m., Braintree Police said dismissals were starting.

Service on the MBTA Commuter Rail's Greenbush Line was delayed roughly 15 minutes, as well.
