BURLINGTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Burlington Mall was evacuated on Wednesday after reports of a gas leak.

In a press release, the Burlington Police and Fire Departments said around 9 a.m., a forklift struck a gas line near Nordstrom's during construction at the mall.

Officials evacuated the mall. National Grid crews arrived at the scene shortly after and shut off the gas in the building.

Fire and National Grid crews then did a walkthrough of the entire mall with gas meters and said they did not detect any dangerous gases or gas levels, and the mall was reopened.

Officials said there could still be a slight odor lingering throughout the building, but there is no concern for the public.
