Four Arrested On Opening Day At Encore Boston Harbor

EVERETT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Four people were arrested during the first day of operations at the Encore Boston Harbor resort and casino, according to Massachusetts State Police.

State Police spokesperson David Procopio said the arrests include two men from the Bronx, New York who were allegedly working together to cheat at roulette.

Jankelli Volquez, 27, and Hector Hernandez, 66, are both charged with cheating and conspiracy.

One person was arrested for disorderly conduct, and another for trespassing.

In addition to the four arrests, one person is being summoned to court for possession of heroin.

Procopio said State Police were busy helping the casino's security staff with minor incidents "such as minors on the gaming floor (most were passing through with adults), arguments, medical aid, and crowd control."

Traffic was "mostly moderate" and proceeded without major delays, but Route 99 saw increased congestion around 7 p.m. Sunday, according to Procopio.
