LOWELL, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell is back with its annual Women Build Week and is looking for volunteers.
Women Build Week is a fundraiser in which volunteers secure pledges from friends and family to help fund the construction of affordable homes. Executive director Sheilagh Carlisle says they are also recruiting women to work build shifts this year.
"We are encouraging women to come out and actually help us build these homes, but at the same time, we're hoping that they'll fundraise for us as they lead up to the Women Build Week and get their friends and family involved," Carlisle said.

Volunteers have been working with Habitat's Women Build program since 1991. This year's goal is to raise $30,000 to go towards three new homes in Concord.
"Next week, we'll have families selected for these homes. So, it's very likely that the families that will be living in these homes will be out during Women Build Week, working alongside women builders," Carlisle explained.
The event runs from May 5-9, but Carlyle says space is already filling up.
