BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A local social media influencer is going viral for walking from Cambridge to Logan Airport to catch a flight.
Sam Westby recently posted a video that showed him walking more than 7 miles from his apartment to Logan’s Terminal B. It has since garnered thousands of likes on social media.
Westby said that he decided to challenge himself to the walk while getting ready to travel abroad to Europe.
“I was going to Italy with my girlfriend and she didn’t want to walk with me, so she took an Uber and I just woke up at 5 a.m. got ready and set off for my 10 a.m. flight,” he explained.
The walk took him 2 hours and 17 minutes and more than 14,500 steps to complete, and he carried two bags of luggage with him the entire way.
“In the middle 2 hours [it was] not great, the final 15 minutes in East Boston [was] lovely,” Westby said.

Westby rewarded himself during the walk with a pit stop at a local bakery to grab breakfast.
Ultimately, Westby said other than the fun of the experience, there is “zero reason to walk” to Logan Airport.
