BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Martin Luther King Day is one of the NBA's showcase days.

There are 14 games scheduled for Monday, with all but the Clippers and Mavericks, who play tomorrow, in action.

Two of the NBA's marquee franchises will meet when the Celtics host the Lakers Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at TD Garden in a nationally-televised affair.

Los Angeles's Anthony Davis and Danny Green, and Boston's Marcus Smart, shared their thoughts on Martin Luther King's influence with ESPN.

"If it wasn't for what Martin Luther King stood for, then obviously we wouldn't have the game we have today, and the diversity we have today," Davis said.

"He made more people see the bigger picture and understand it, how great we can be, as a unit or as a community," Green said.

"Just open our minds a little bit, and educate ourselves about one another, and I think we'll understand each other a little bit more, and we'll respect each other," Smart said.
