CHESHIRE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A multi-vehicle crash Sunday morning in Cheshire has left one person dead and two others injured.

The incident happened around 7 a.m. on Route 8, near Farnum Road, according to Massachusetts State Police.

A man was driving a Jeep behind another man driving a mustang at the time. According to police, the man in the Jeep tried to pass the Mustang when a third man, in a Hyundai, was driving toward them in the opposite direction.

The man in the Hyundai has been identified as 61-year-old Anthony Emard.

The Jeep driver tried to get back behind the Mustang, but hit that car in the process. This caused both the Jeep and the Mustang to hit Emard's car, causing it the rollover.

Emard was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other men involved in the crash were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, according to state police.

The crash is currently under investigation.
