BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — In an exclusive interview Wednesday, New England Revolution’s reigning Defender of the Year and Humanitarian of the Year Andrew Farrell talked to WBZ NewsRadio’s Adam Kaufman about his current seventh season with the team and the recent successes the Revs have been seeing.
Farrell is known for his availability to play, which has paid off for him so far, and could sustain his career.
“I have a presence here. I just want to be involved in everything I can. I think it’s important,” Farrell said.
Farrell also spoke to the difficulties of changing coaches twice during the season—first to Mike Lapper, then to Bruce Arena.
“It is a challenge. Some coaches work better with certain players,” Farrell said. “It takes a while to get acclimated to a new coach.”
And on sharing a building with the Patriots?
“It’s awesome, I think it’s great,” Farrell said. “You hear about the stories of greatness and what they do to be great and become great. Everybody buys in, and that’s something that’s important in sports.”
On August 21st, the Revs are hosting Bowl For A Goal, presented by Arbella Insurance, at Splitsville Lanes at Patriot Place. The event benefits Special Olympics Masssachusetts and gives fans a chance to spend the evening with their favorite Revs players and coaches.
“It’s important. It’s probably one of my favorite things about being a professional athlete, being able to reach out to the community,” Farrell said. “Being able to give back and help.”
Kaufman and Farrell also spoke about the Revs’ playoff potential, his mood during the season’s slow start, what things are key going through the rest of the season, and more.
