WALTHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Plans are in motion to build a new police headquarters in Waltham.
Waltham's current police headquarters was dedicated in 1964, and according to some residents, the building is showing its age and is in need of upgrades.
"I've just been inside the front door real quick, but it looks super old when you're in there," one local resident said.
"It looks like it was built in the 60s, so I think we definitely need a new one. It's time for one," another resident said.

It’s estimated to cost more than $80 million to build a new station for the Waltham police. According to the Waltham Times, city officials are looking for a complete cost estimate to submit a funding request to the city council. That does not include new furniture.
That figure was presented by the firm designing the city’s new police and fire headquarters.
If the project gets the green light, it is expected to take three years to complete.
"I'm very proud of the police department at Waltham. I think it's great, and it seems like the force would like to have an updated facility, so I think it's a good thing. They deserve it," another resident explained.
