Police Warning Residents After Sunderland Attempted Kidnapping

SUNDERLAND, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police in Sunderland are investigating after a woman said a man tried to abduct her Sunday morning.

The woman was running with her dog on River Road around 9 a.m. when a man driving a "brown-ish" SUV stopped, and told her to "get in," according to authorities.

The woman told police that the man then got out of the car, and began walking in her direction and speaking at her. She yelled "No," and while continuing to run.

When another car was driving toward the altercation, the man then got back into the SUV and drove away.

The suspect is described as a white man with very short hair and a prominent bone structure. He was wearing a red shirt and light pants.

Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.

Police have issued a warning, reminding "everyone to be aware of their surroundings," and "if you see something, say something."
