BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — It feels like déjà vu. NASA's launch of the KiNET-X sounding rocket is now set for Wednesday after being delayed another night.
The launch is set to happen at 8:06 p.m. from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. It was originally supposed to happen on Friday, but has been delayed five nights in a row because of weather conditions.
NASA said Tuesday night's launch was scrubbed because of "cloud skies in Bermuda and Wallops." Backup launch days run through May 16.
If the rocket does launch Wednesday night, it may be visible in the Eastern United States.
NASA said the mission is "designed to study a very fundamental problem in space plasmas, namely, how are energy and momentum transported between different regions of space that are magnetically connected?"
The rocket will release barium vapor that will form two green-violet clouds. But, don't worry, the vapor isn't harmful to the public. And when the vapor is exposed to sunlight, it takes on a violet color. However, the clouds may be difficult to see when it's dark out.
