BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — This week's warm weather has melted much of the snow from last month's blizzard, but space savers still seem to clutter Boston streets.

City Council Miniard Culpepper said this week he has heard from constituents that their neighbors are still using space savers weeks after the grace period ended. In Boston, residents can put out space savers up to 48 hours after a Snow Emergency ends.

Residents like Justin say people have been accustomed to saving spots so much this winter, they almost think it's the standard now, and he doesn't really see it stopping.

"They're not going to do it," he said.

Space savers this winter have ranged from martini glasses to laundry baskets.

"I've seen a wheelchair. I've seen barbecue pits," another Boston resident said.

City officials said any remaining space savers on the street will be collected and disposed of by the Department of Public Works as they prepare for spring.
