Somerville, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The City of Somerville is developing new plans for PorchFest to improve the experience for everyone.

PorchFest draws thousands of people to the city streets, and for people like Cassidy, it's a highlight of the year.

"It's just so fun to be out and about with the community and getting to explore different neighborhoods and having hopefully a really nice spring day," said Cassidy.

But that doesn't mean the event is without its own issues. This year, Mayor Jake Wilson says they'll double the number of porta-potties available to reduce lines and ensure people have a place to go.

"I think a lot of issues with bathrooms and trash, there's always tons of litter everywhere and overflowing receptacles," said Cassidy.

City officials say they'll also be spacing out shows to help manage noise levels.
