Boston Resumes Ticketing For Street Sweeping

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Tickets are being issued once again in Boston for those who park in street sweeping zones. The ticketing had been put on pause in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic and less people going to work as a result.

As ticketing resumes, Chris Osgood, the Chief of Streets at the Department of Transportation and Sanitation, said that they are trying to get the word out and avoid writing tickets.

"We actually didn't pause street cleanings, so we've been continuing to do routine cleaning across streets all across the city throughout the pandemic," Osgood said. "But we did pause both ticketing and towing, and while towing will continue to be paused, ticketing will resume August 10."

Healthcare workers can appeal any parking ticket they receive, and Osgood said that cars will not be towed for being parked in a street sweeping zone for the time being.
