BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Better weather is on the horizon for the Bay State.

After weeks of snowstorms and cold fronts, Massachusetts might finally get a reprieve from the arctic temperatures.

The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts temperatures will hit 60 degrees next week. The warmup will begin Saturday with temperatures in the 40s.

It's a dramatic shift after a wintry mix Thursday night into Friday. A Winter Weather Advisory was in effect until noon Friday. Some schools, including Fitchburg Public Schools, were closed on Friday because of the weather and driving conditions.

"Can't wait for the snow to go away. I don't want to see another flake. You know what I mean," one Massachusetts resident said.

There is a chance for light showers Saturday night leading into Sunday morning, with temperatures climbing into the 50s and 60s. The warm weather is expected to last at least through Tuesday.

"60 degrees? Oh, hell yes. I hate the winter. I hate snow," another resident said.
