BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A social wellness movement is turning the nightlife on its head.

While the Boston area's nightlife scene is known to be limited, younger generations are more likely to skip clubs and bars at night for something more active and social during the day, ditching the nightlife for the day life. The Day Life Over the NightLife Social Wellness movement aims to replace traditional social gatherings by creating authentic connections with others.

From going to bars to lifting bars, the younger generation says they are looking for better ways to socialize and make friends, like at the gym.

"I think people are more conscious about their body, and taking care of themselves, and genuinely making connections with people," one gymgoer said.

"And it's true, you know, I've met a lot of great people here at the gym, and I didn't expect that. So it's a different way of going about life, but I think it's great," another gymgoer explained.

"It's more healthy, right? It's a more healthy way to meet somebody. So I think it's good," one person said.

"No doubt there's probably a healthier choice than going out and staying out late," another person said.
