The Plymouth County District Attorney's Office confirmed both local and state police were investigating the tragic drowning of two children, 13-year-old Rafael Andrade and 12-year-old Tiago Depina, who were in the water for more than an hour.
Brockton police received a 911 call at about 7:30 p.m. for a medical emergency and a possible drowning at D.W. Field Park's Waldo Lake.
District Attorney Timothy Cruz says first responders could not find the two children who had gone under the water. Brockton police officers and firefighters then entered the water for a rescue attempt, but still could not find the boys, which prompted them to call in the Plymouth County Technical Rescue Team for assistance.
