In the wee hours of Sunday morning, a Florida man named Jordan Rivera (23) had his arm bitten off by a 10'5 Aligator after falling into a pond. The horrific incident occurred outside of Banditos Bar in Port Charlotte. Shortly his limb was ripped off, and patrons at the bar heard a loud shriek, prompting them to rush to the scene. From there, bystanders captured footage of the aftermath while others attempted to offer him impromptu first aid care with a tourniquet while the first responders were en route.
"He was yelling and swimming toward the shoreline," said an eye-witness named Manny Hildago during an interview with Daily Sun. "I ran and dragged him up onto the sand. I was scared to get close to the water because it was dark out."
Shortly after the bystanders successfully pulled Rivera out of the dark and murky pond where the Aligator attack occurred, he was transported to a local hospital where the rest of his arm was amputated. The alligator responsible was captured later that afternoon by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) before being given a humane death.
Jordan appeared to be in good sports after waking up from a coma in ICU. He was recently interviewed by NBC2 News from his hospital bed. You can watch his account of the incident here.
