Alan Ram, CEO, Tailwind Air

Alan Ram is the CEO of Tailwind Air and an aviation and aerospace entrepreneur with over 20 years in industry leadership roles across business development, operations, and program and general management. Alan is a veteran of the US Army, serving as an armor and cavalry officer in 11 years of active and reserve service. He has founded three companies, including Tailwind, which he founded as one of the earliest visions of “urban air mobility,” connecting urban cores in half the time by avoiding traffic bottlenecks and congested airports. Alan also took one of those companies to exit, Stratus Aerospace, which was acquired by Northrop Grumman in 2012, where he then worked for five years as a program director and then led international strategy for Northrop Grumman Aerospace. Alan founded Stratus to further develop an autonomous air vehicle technology Alan’s team pioneered during a $140M USAF program working Alan led for MAV6, LLC. Prior to that, Alan was a Vice President at Presidential Airways, running a start-up autonomous aircraft technology business unit, and prior to that worked in business development there. Alan graduated from Georgetown University twice, receiving his undergraduate degree from the School of Foreign Service and an MBA from the McDonough School of Business.
