This feels like a metaphor for humans too. The internet's comment section & Twitter being like the dogs with the gate between them. When we see each other in "the real world" though, we're (mostly) kind & respectful for one another. Or perhaps we all have gates that make other's look like enemies until we remove those gates & see we have common ground?
