Just Head over to Google Maps, and youll find "Busta Rhymes Island" located right in in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. The 40x40 island is located in Mill Pond, and is a spot that Kevin O’Brien likes to hang out at with his friends. O'Brien spent years tending to the little island, cleaning up after resident partiers and planting fruits.
He needed a name for his favorite chill spot, and so he named it after hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes. Speaking to Boston Globe, O'Brien stated that he christened the island because it had, "rope-swinging, blueberries, and … stuff Busta would enjoy.”
He also revealed that he did not believe Busta knew of the island. "I don't know, but I hope he's going to find out, and he's welcome to visit anytime," O'Brien stated.
O'Brien cleverly geo-tagged the island on Google Maps, but the US Board on Geographic Names refuses to make the name official. Their rules state that a memorial piece of land named after a celebrity cannot be officially named until five years after their death.
